The history of Mālpils Manor dates back to the year 1760. The manor ensemble historically consisted of 38 buildings. In the year of 1905 the Mālpils Manor was burnt down. In 1907, architect Wilhelm Bockslaff commenced the designing works of the manor and recreated the building as it can be seen today. Nowadays, Mālpils Manor can again boast with its unusual calm, quiet, pond fountain, romantic baroque style park and air of antiquity. During the course of restoration, the exterior image of the manor was neared to the historical original as much as possible and the original layout of the premises was maintained. The interior of the manor was arranged by combining historically based new interior designs, and the existing decorations were updated. In the master house of Mālpils Manor, you can see restored old fireplaces and tile stoves, dark oak wood panel ceiling, renovated ballroom, hardwood floors, oak wood staircases, 19th century arches, original wooden beams, and outside terrace. The interior design of the manor has been complemented with antique classicism and biedermeier style furniture.

Mālpils is located only 60 km from Riga. This drive with car will take you about one hour. Mālpils is located 20 km from Sigulda.

Driving from Riga you have to take auto road A2. After 14 km on your right you will see a road sign to Mālpils. Turn right here (road P3) and drive straight for about 36 km until you reach Mālpils. Then after about 1 km the road will end into a lake, here you have to turn right. After 100 metrs turn right once more on unpaved road. Go straight and on the left side soon you will see Mālpils manor.

Regular intercity buses run from Riga to Mālpils. This drive will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes and it will cost about 2 Lats. You can also take bus from Sigulda to Mālpils. It will take about half an hour and it will cost you about one Lats. Timetables for buses you can find at www.1188.lv.
