Saulkrasti is the seaside city in the Rīga District bathed by the Baltic Sea. The city has resulted from the merger of several villages. Saulkrasti offers to travellers many different recreations both in winter and summer. In winter the skiing track operates in Saulkrasti, but summer is the most suitable time for leisure activities related with water – it is possible to rent boats and catamarans, as well as to engage in windsurfing, kite surfing and fishing. Devotees of leisure activities are offered possibilities to play mini-golf, paintball and to enjoy horse-riding. In particular romantics are advised to walk along the Sunset Trail, but those interested in ancient objects should visit the Bicycle Museum. Saulkrasti is a city, where different concerts and festivals are held as well as open-air dances, so characteristic to Latvia, are organized.
