Travellers entering Latvia are required to have valid health insurance policies or valid EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) that guarantee that any health-related expenses would be covered during their stay in the country.

EHIC is common document for all EU countries, as well as for Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, which governs for the citizens of these countries state guaranteed emergency medical assistance and required health care in the same amount as it is assured for citizens of corresponding state.
